Several books have been published over the past few years about using psychological methods to train oneself to internalize Jewish teachings and live better and/or more successful lives.
Thanks for this! I know there's an ongoing debate about the relationship between hypnotic induction and meditation (as well as a variety of debates over Jewish meditation itself). Do you take a particular stance here?
Thanks for the question! I'm no expert on meditation (Jewish or otherwise), but my limited knowledge of it implies that there's relatively little difference between guided meditation and a hypnotic induction outside of the participant's expectations and understanding of what is going on. I want to do some more research on meditation in Jewish contexts before weighing in on that side of things. Perhaps I'll devote a future essay to the subject!
